Service Description
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate to Advanced When you look across a room and see a drop-dead award-winning painting and wondered how the artist painted that? You closely examine the technique; the brush stokes and try to figure it out. When an artist wins award after award, you might wonder what he or she knows that you do not. I used to wonder those things, so after years of studying, I have recognized the ingredients that will help you make better choices in your work and stand out in an exhibition. The key ingredient to making more effective paintings lies in understanding the elements and principles of design, technique and selection of subject matter or reference material. Each workshop will focus on design, technique, and effective choice of subject matter. Cost of each workshop $150. If you sign up for all 4 sessions the cost will be $500. Workshops meet from 10:00am - 4:30pm on the following dates: January 17-18 (Friday & Saturday) Session 1: Focus: Line, shape Plus an analysis of your technique with direction for study. February 7-8 (Friday & Saturday) Session 2: Focus: Value, Shape Plus examination of subject matter choices March 21-22 (Friday & Saturday) Session 3: Focus: Value, Color Plus examination of your sources with recommendations for choice April 4-5 (Friday & Saturday) Session 4: Focus: Texture, Line, Color Plus how to critique your own work or the work of others ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR Anne Hightower-Patterson is an award-winning South Carolina artist and teacher.
